'Information Services' is a common departmental name for the computer department. We were formerly called 'Data Processing' but we don't really process data anymore. Other common names are 'Information Technology' and 'Managed Information Services.'
We exist in order to serve the computing needs of all the employees of Matagorda County. Our responsibilities include not only the Courthouse but also the Annex, the Sheriff's Department, Adult and Juvenile Probation Departments, all the Justices of the Peace, all County Precinct Barns, and the Appraisal District. We currently care for approximately 200 Personal Computers, 13 Windows Servers, and numerous pieces of LAN equipment (hubs, switches, firewalls, etc.).
